Importing modules in 2022 makes R$ 64 billion in investments for DG and Utility Scale possible

The volume of PV modules demanded by the Brazilian market in 2022 to meet solar generation exceeded 17 GW, enabling investments of about R$ 64 billion for both distributed generation and utility scale. A 73% growth compared to 2021 (10.3 GW).

Growth in the solar market despite the drop in the share of financing for PV systems, supporting 22% of sales compared to 57% in 2021, reflecting the rise in interest rates in the country.

The changes to the distributed generation rules that came into force in January 2023 bring a slight decrease in the attractiveness of residential and commercial PV systems. Despite this, solar generation continues to be a profitable and advantageous investment for the final consumer.

Prices of PV systems have an average drop of 12% in 2022. Decrease in module costs and high level of wholesale equipment inventory were factors that contributed to the drop in prices to the final consumer.
